This is me. My name is Kirstin Kadé and I am a 24 year old, born and bred South African. I am a qualified Food Scientist, having graduated from the University of Stellenbosch at the end of 2015 with a BSc Food Science degree, and am currently completing an MSc Human Nutrition at the University of Surrey in Guildford, United Kingdom.
As a qualified Food Scientist and Nutritionist-to-be, I have a passion for educating people about how to make healthier food choices on a daily basis with the resources that they are able to afford and use to nourish their bodies. In time, I also hope to make some kind of impact in the food production sector with regards to providing more food that is nutritious and genuinely better for consumers. I have a passion for food and nutrition education, particularly having grown up in a country where a lack of funds, access to food, and poor education means that 'health' is that much more difficult to attain than in most of the developed world. Most of us consumers take advantage of quick, easy, and highly processed, convenience foods instead of spending time in the kitchen to prepare meals from wholesome ingredients. We think that cooking takes up a lot of time, effort, and requires Jamie Oliver-like talent, but in actual fact it's really not that difficult. Often all that we need is a bit of guidance, inspiration, and a few good ingredients.
Since starting my blog, it has become a place where I have shared knowledge as I learn more about the human body and nutrition, wholesome recipes centered around fresh, real food, as well useful resources that each reader can use to learn more about food, health, and how to best nourish oneself. I hope to encourage each reader to take baby steps in the kitchen, and to learn to love cooking meals with fresh ingredients. I also hope that each of you can learn how to best appreciate and look after the beautiful body that you have been blessed with.
I want to invite and welcome you to join me on this adventure! To TASTE good, fresh, wholesome food, SEE the way in which it can heal, nourish, and energise your body, and LEARN a few important things along the way.
